KATIA PÉREZ FUENTES is a multi-hyphenate artist, administrator, and emerging astrologer. They identify as queer, brown, non-binary Mexican immigrant with community ties in Albuquerque, Chicago, and beyond. Pérez is a creative problem solver with a background in public arts, non-profit orgs, and anti-racism work. Pérez has over five years of experience leading equity initiatives as a community organizer, program coordinator, and museum professional. They are an advocate for the importance of quality intergenerational mentorship, particularly in the fields of arts, culture, and metaphysical practices.
Their studio practice is a vessel for translating intuitive observations into visual access points for creative exchange. Perez’s work includes murals, paintings, drawings, and facilitating experiences. Most recently, their collaborative murals in Chicago have been recognized as part of a MacArthur Creative Placemaking Award.
KPF values dedicating time towards leisurely activities-- stimulating occupations that enrich our quality of life through forms of celebration, play, study, ritual, and rest. They are a first-generation graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
